“A strong, successful man is not the victim of his environment. He creates favorable conditions. His own inherent force and energy compel things to turn out as he desires.”- Orison Marden
This quote reminds me of a young man I have much respect for. He is the founder of Blueberry Brand events and Promotions, an inspirational speaker, author and life coach. He goes by the name Motsosi Sammy Mokgoatsane.

Sammy
I have always wanted to know why he does so many radio, TV, magazine and newspaper interviews – what’s the hype about him? I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to interview him and get to know him a little better.
One word that describes you? Sammy: Love
My first interaction with this Tembisa born and bred youth development enthusiast was during the shoot of a video for the launch of his first book, THE KEY TO SUCCESS IS TO BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOURSELF. In this book he gives readers the tools on how to build a strong relationship with themselves, starting with self-love. He learnt about the lack of self-knowledge and self-love the hard way – it went to the extent where he even lost his job. Through this book, he shares with those who are willing to learn how to develop yourself through knowing yourself.

If you could do one thing right now, what would it be and why? Sammy: I would go around the country and change the mind-sets of young people who think negatively.
He has empowered more than 5000 students from different schools through his motivational talks and career expos. He started a project called “After Matric, What’s Next? Career Expo” with the purpose of enabling young people who are unaware of the numerous opportunities offered by various companies, colleges and universities. Through this project he has impacted over 6000 students in and around Gauteng.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Sammy: Being a self-made multimillionaire with a business degree.
This 26 year old is currently studying Business Management at UNISA and is using all that he is learning not only to market his companies, but to manage his business engagements and partnerships. He owns Blueberry Brands Events and Promotions – a 100% black owned company that is involved in event management, catering, marketing, promotions, company branding and ‘uniquely customized’ design solutions.
What would you like to be remembered by? Sammy: Someone who changed how people view the world. A person who fulfilled his purpose of serving the community.
Sammy believes in being proactive and influencing change in his community. He holds various membership and leadership roles in community outreach associations whose mandate is to further the economic and social standing of previously disadvantaged groups. He was recognised as the most dedicated and hardworking library committee member at the Tembisa West Library in 2013. He was also amongst the top 5 of the most exciting young leaders in Tembisa, 2012.

What is your biggest fear? Sammy: Being poor.
From what we see above, Sammy is far from being poor. He is a spiritually rich individual who is always ready to take on whatever challenge comes his way.
